ABOUT DEVLIN BORDER TERRIERS

Having always been "large dog" people, it never occurred to us to look at the smaller breeds of dogs until a serendipitous visit to the home of a horse breeder, who happened to also have Border Terriers, and hearts were stolen. This breed is the consumate combination of "small" size with "big" personality. We got involved with the breed shortly thereafter and haven't looked back since. Over the course of time, we have invested in improving our dogs and our breeding program and strive to have each one of our puppies be the perfect home companian staying true to the Border Terrier breed standard and intent.

OUR KENNEL NAME

I did some research into various names and languages while trying to stay within the English/Scottish/Gaelic language base in keeping with the history of the Border Terrier. In doing so, I was striving to choose a name that stood for something important and was indicative of the Border Terrier. During this process, I came across the word DEVLIN (in Gaelic) and learned that its meaning was "fierce bravery". Well .... I looked no further. Anybody owning a Border Terrier will understand immediately. These little guys pack quite a punch and are the staunchest defenders of "their people" and the most thorough dispatchers. The name says it all.
